Applications are invited for an EPSRC funded post-doctoral research position in the Theory of Condensed Matter Group, Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge. The post is available from 1 October 2015 for a duration of 2 years.
This post is to work with Professor Nigel Cooper on projects related to ultracold atomic gases, involving recent developments in the generation of artificial gauge fields by atom-light coupling and non-equilibrium quantum systems. The candidate should have a strong background in the theory of quantum many-particle systems.
The candidate must hold a PhD/DPhil in the area of theoretical physics, or a closely related field (it is acceptable to be in the final stages of PhD/DPhil). The candidate should have a solid background in the theory of many particle quantum systems. Familiarity with theories of non equilibrium quantum systems and/or of atom-light coupling is desirable. The candidate should have a publication record commensurate with career stage and must be able to demonstrate a capacity for independent research work.
The Theory of Condensed Matter group provides an environment to pursue collaborative and/or independent research. Further information on the research activities of the group are available from http://www.tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk.
If you have any questions about this vacancy please contact Professor Nigel Cooper (nrc25@cam.ac.uk). If you have questions about the application process please contact Alan Clarke (ac771@cam.ac.uk)
