POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN CONDENSED MATTER THEORY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND

Applicants are invited to fill a postdoctoral position in condensed

matter theory at the University of Maryland, starting as early as

September 1, 2013 or at a later mutually acceptable date. The position

will be associated with both Condensed Matter Theory Center (CMTC,

http://www.physics.umd.edu/cmtc/) and Joint Quantum Institute (JQI, http://jqi.umd.edu/).

Prof. Victor Galitski will be the primary postdoctoral advisor. The

postdoctoral Fellow will also be expected to work in close

collaboration with other theoreticians and experimentalists at CMTC

and JQI and will have a lot of flexibility in the choice of research topics.

Candidates with expertise in any area of "hard" condensed matter

theory are invited to apply. However, preference will be for

candidates with strong technical (analytical) skills in a broad range

of subjects of many-body theory and a publication record that

demonstrates such strong skills.

The condensed matter theory group at the University of Maryland offers

an interactive and collaborative environment, which allows young

theorists to work on just about any subject of condensed matter and cold atoms.

UMD is located in the Washington, DC area; just a 30-minute drive from

the White House and a short metro ride from Washington's many museums,

concert halls, restaurants etc.

To apply, email your application to Victor Galitski at

lastname@umd.edu. The applications should include an up-to-date CV, a

list of three references, and a PDF copy of one selected publication

that the candidate may be asked to explain in technical details during

an interview. Do NOT send reference letters unless they are specifically requested.

The University of Maryland is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and applications from women and minorities are encouraged.
