Electron life-time in quantum wires: Definition and Observability
Low-dimensional electron offer exceptionally rich physics not readily found in higher dimensions. The Luttinger-Liquid state of an electron gas is known to have gapless excitations, spin-charge separation (different excitations and velocities), and a tunneling density of state with power singularity at the Fermi level. Our recent interest focusses on the definition and measurable aspects of the electron lifetime for such a non-Fermi liquid.
