Harvard Condensed Matter Theory Seminars
Recent experiments realized matter wave interferometers by dynamically
splitting a low-dimensional condensate into two parallel parts. How long
do the decoupled condensates remain in phase? I will show that the
dephasing time is determined by intrinsic quantum fluctuations that
randomize the relative phase with time. Furthermore, I will elucidate on
how these systems can serve as a laboratory for studying many body
quantum dynamics far from equilibrium.
