Projective symmetry, quantum order, and quantum phase transitions

Some quantum states may have a new kind of order -- topological/quantum order -- that cannot be described by symmetry breaking. I will discuss how to use projective symmetry to describe the new orders. Then I will discuss how to use projective symmetry to study quantum phase transitions which are in general beyond Ginzburg-Landau theory.
